If you ever wonder how in the world God could use you to change the world, look at the people God used to change history. A ragbag of ne’er-do-wells and has-beens who found hope, not in their performance, but in God’s proverbially open arms.

Abraham- God took what was good and forgave what was bad and used “old forked tongue” to start a nation. Moses- would you call upon a fugitive to carry the Ten Commandments? God did. David- his track record left little to be desired, but his repentant spirit was unquestionable. Jonah- God put him in a whale’s belly to bring him back to his senses. But even the whale couldn’t stomach this missionary for too long. On and on the stories go: Elijah, the prophet who pouted; Solomon, the king who knew too much; Jacob, the wheeler-dealer; Gomer, the prostitute; Sarah, the woman who giggled at God. One story after another of God using man’s best and overcoming man’s worst. The reassuring lesson is clear. God used (and uses!) people to change the world. People! Not saints or superhumans or geniuses, but people. Crooks, creeps, lovers, and liars—he uses them all. And what they may lack in perfection, God makes up for in love. Read the full article

Noah and the Ark

Posted October 20, 2008

“The ark measured 300× 50×30 cubits (Genesis 6:15), which is about 450×75×45feet or 137 ×23×13.7 meters, so its volume was 1.52 million cubic feet or 43,200meters( cubic meters). To put this in perspective, this is the equevalent volume of 522 standard railroad stock cars, each of which can hold 240 sheeps.

If the animals were kept in cages with an average size, (some would be much bigger, others smaller) of 20×20×12 inches (50×50×30centimeters), that is 4,800 cubic inches (75,000cm.), the 16,000 animals would only occupy 42,000 cubic feet (1,200m) or 14.4 stock cars. Even if a million insect species had to be on board as well, it would not be a problem because they require little space, If each pair were kept in cages of four inches(10cmor 1,000cm3) per side. all the insect species would occupy a total volume of only 1,000m3 or another 12 cars. This would live room for five trains of 99 cars each for food. Noah’s family, “range” for the animals, and air spaces. However, insects are not included in the meaning of behemath or remes so Noah probably did not have to take them on board as passengers anyway.” Read the full article

BIOLOGICAL DEFORMITIES

Posted October 20, 2008

The more distantly related parents are, the more likely it is that they will each have different mistakes in their genes. Children, inheriting one set of genes from each parent, are likely to end up with pairs of genes containing a maximum of one bad gene in each pair. The good gene in a pair tends to override the bad so that a deformity (a serious one anyway) does not occur. Instead of having totally deformed ears, for instance, a person may have only crooked ones! (Overall, though, the human race is slowly degenerating as mistakes accumulate generation after generation.)

The First Woman

Posted October 20, 2008

The Bible does not tell us how many children were born to Adam and Eve. However, considering their long life spans (Adam lived for 930 years— Gen 5:5), it would seem reasonable to suggest there were many! Remember, they were commanded to “Be fruitful, and multiply” (Genesis 1:28).

THE WIFE If we now work totally from Scripture, without any personal prejudices or other extra-biblical ideas, then back at the beginning, when there was only the first generation, brothers would have had married sisters or there would have been no more generations! We are told when Cain married or any married or any of the details of other marriages and children, but we can say for certain that some brothers had to marry their sisters at the beginning of human history. FALSE BELIEFS ON RACES RESULTS

Rejection of the Gospel: The accuracy of the historical details of Genesis is crucial to the trustworthiness of the Bible and to the whole gospel message. So the popular belief that people groups evolved their different features, and could not all have come from Noah’s family (contrary to the Bible), has eroded belief in the gospel of JESUS CHRIST.

EFFECTS of CHOICE

Posted September 17, 2008

The dispersion at Babel broke up a large interbreeding group into small interbreeding group. This ensured that the resultant groups would have different mixes of genes for various physical features. By itself, this dispersion would ensure, in a short time, that there would be certain fixed differences in some of these groups commonly called “races.” In addition, the selection pressure of the environment would modify the existing combination of genes so that the physical characteristics of each group would tend to suit their environment.

EFFECTS of BABEL

Posted September 17, 2008

This is exactly what happened at Babel. Once separate languages were imposed, there were instantaneous barriers. Not only would people tend not to marry someone they couldn’t understand, but entire groups which spoke the same language would have difficulty relating to and trusting those which did not. Thus, they move away or be forced away from each other, into different environments. This, of course, is what GOD intended.

SKIN COLOR (HEREDITY)

Posted September 17, 2008

One form of the gene. One form of the gene “M” says to make lots of Melanin: another form of the gene “M” says to make a little “Melanin.” (Variant forms of a gene are called ‘alleles’ but not important here.) At a position A we could have a pair such as Ma,Ma, Ma, ma or ma, ma which would instruct the skin cells to make a lot, some or little melanin. Similarly, at position B we could have the gene pairs Mb, Mb, Mb, mb or mb, mb, instructing cells to make a lot, some or little melanin. Thus very dark people could have Ma,Ma, Mb, Mb, for example. Since both sperm and eggs of such people could only be Ma,Mb (remember, only one of each A or B pair goes to each sperm or egg), they could only produce children with exactly the same combination of genes as themselves. So the children will all be very dark. Likewise, a very light people with Ma, Ma, Mb, Mb could produce children only like themselves.

This is very useful arrangement, because if you inherit a damage gene from one parent that could instruct your cells to produce a defective hemoglobin, you are still likely to get a normal one from the other parent which will continue to give the right instructions. Thus only half of the hemoglobin in your body will be defective. (In fact, each of us carries genetic mistakes, inherited from one or the other of our parents which are usefully (covered up” by being matched with a normal gene from the other parent.)

What is Race?

However, we all have same coloring pigment in our skin, melanin. This is a dark-brownish pigment that is produced in different amounts in special cell in our skin. If we had none (as do people called albinos, who inherit a mutation-caused defect, and cannot produced melanin), then we would have a very white or pink skin coloring. If we produce a little melanin, we would be European white. If our skin produced a great deal of melanin, we would be very dark black. And in between, of course, are all shades of brown. There are no other significant skin pigments.

CREATION in GENESIS

Posted September 17, 2008

In other words, if one fails to see God through the things He has created – things that are clearly seen, I seriously doubt he would be convinced in a debate. Moreover, my own acceptance of the Biblical account of creation was not based on some well thought out argument or presentation of facts that convinced me that it was true. And I too fail to recognize God in all He has made. It was only after the Holy Spirit bore witness with my spirit that I am a child of God that I was able to accept the Biblical account of creation without question. It is my view that it would take nothing less than that same witness of the Holy Spirit to convince the atheist or the evolutionist that the biblical account of creation is true.

BAPTISM WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

Posted July 22, 2008

This is called in the Scripture, “the baptism in the Holy Spirit,” because it is a baptism, meaning a drenching, an overflowing, a saturating of your soul and body with the Holy Spirit. “Baptize” in Greek means “ to completely suffuse”(overspread)- it is used in classical Greek of a sunken, water-logged ship- so it does not really make any difference whether Jesus immerses us in the Holy Spirit in an external sense of the word: whether He inundates from outside; or whether Jesus causes the Holy Spirit to rise and overflow from where He is living inside us, to suffuse your souls and bodies. Probably both pictures are true—He “comes upon us” both from outside and inside. Read the full article

WHAT'S GOD'S PURPOSE FOR YOUR LIFE?

YOU LIFE-PURPOSE STATEMENT

Psalms 33:11 TEV— “His plans endure forever; HIS purpose last eternally.”

Most great companies live by their statement of purpose. And you need one too! what should mine consist of?” you ask. it should:

1. Emphasize GOD’s purpose in your life.
Remember, its not a list of your goals or goals change. purpose doesn’t.

2. Force you to think constantly about the path you’re taking.
Listen: “YOU know where you are headed and you will stand on solid ground” (Prov. 4:26 CEV). Your statement of purpose spill out what you will do with your time, possessions opportunities, responsibilities, and also what you are not going to do. Listen: “An intelligent person aims at wise action, but a full starts off in many directions” (Prov. 17:24TEV).

Define what success means for you.

It should state what you believe is important, not what the world believes. It should reinforce your values.

As psychiatrists, we cringe whenever (Christians) patients use the word can’t …..
Any good psychiatrist knows that “I can’t and I tried” are merely lame excuses. We insist that the patients be honest with themselves and use language that expresses the reality of the situation. So we have our patients change their can’ts to won’ts.

We can pray for all these things, but only after we have faced the question of our own absolute allegiance to the rule of God in our lives. It is idle to pray with the triumph of God, if we are living at peace with evil”

KNOWING GOD'S WILL

There exists in Italy a remote harbor reached only by crossing a narrow channel dangerously lined with jagged rocks. Even the solidly built vessels have been lost. In the black of night, it is extremely difficult for a ship’s captain to steer his craft through the treacherous harbor. Some years ago, recognizing this danger, maritime authorities at a nearby port carefully mounted three special lights throughout the harbor for the purpose of guiding vessels in the night. The captains of these, however, do not steer from one light to the next as they cross the narrow channel. Rather, each light must be lined up perfectly with the others. If the captain sees two or three separate lights in the distance, he knows he is off course. All three must line up perfectly.

HIGHER GROUND

A HIGH VIEW OF TRUTH RISES ABOVE THE FOOTHILLS OF FACTS.
Wisdom reminds us that we can be right in what we say, yet be wrong in the way we say it. When the Bible asks us to walk in the truth, it is not just asking us to engage in an intellectual exercise. From Genesis to Revelation, we are asked to be true to God in in our attitudes that are as true to God as the facts that He has revealed………..

If we don’t keep both in view, a generous heart can make error look like truth, just as arrogance can make truth look like error. Who can measure the confusion that occurs when truth is spoken with condemnation and self-righteousness, while lies are told with patience and love?……..

Try to imagine a spirit world where angels speak with arrogance and demons speak with devotion to their enemies. Truth spoken without love is devastatingly harmful; love expressed without truth is tragically misleading.
